Washington Post on toddler-to-tween bedrooms

Thanks, Washington Post! Today’s Home section features an article about decorating chidrens’ bedrooms in ways that are timeless, not trendy. I was delighted to contribute, WaPo!

I also had the opportunity to share some thoughts in a sidebar with special tips for rooms shared by siblings. (I knew having twins would come in handy.) Check out the super-cute picture of my client’s kids!

In their bedroom, the green wall is 551 Exotic Bloom, the connecting yellow walls are HC-5 Weston Flax, and the opposite lavender wall (not pictured) is 1403 French Lilac. All Benjamin Moore’s Aura paint to avoid asphyxiation and destruction by magic marker.

Sing it, Rachel. I made a pact w/ a fellow blogger to post every day in, what was it, June or July, and while I only made it a few weeks, it helped me get my blogging mojo back. You haven't lost yours, though, so just post when you feel like it! I hate it when it becomes a chore. There are plenty of excellent past posts on your blog if you don't get to it every week! Thanks again for commenting :)

Nice Blog! Well most of your content is original and informative. Here is another blog which, too, is nice in my opinion wood laminate flooring, solid wood flooring, carpet flooring tiles

Thanks so much, Rachel! And thanks for the comment. (GREAT stuff on your blog recently – I'm loving it!)

i love that each kid has his or her own wall color, but that they are connected in the middle by a more neutral tone. the three colors together look really nice! congrats on the mention in the Wash Post- that's awesome!

Thanks for the comments, all! Yes, Down Pillow, that is indeed an Ikea bed. I had nothing to do with its selection, but I know the little boy loves it!

Jami, why don't you paint the walls a more creamy yellow, like HC-6 Windham Cream http://tinyurl.com/m6ct53 , and then let the kids choose the bedding?

Beautiful room – I'm jealous of the built-in as well as the room size. My 4yr old boy and 2 yr old girl share a room and I am challenged with what color (as well as bunkbeds, etc), as well as we are trying to sell our house, so I need something more neutral. I'll be at my wits end soon!

Loved the color palette in the room! Is that an Ikea bed on the right? The one that transforms into a loft if wanted? Great design!

    Great article!

Love your client's room – I wish I'd had a cool room like that when I was a kid :) I really like the bookshelves!

Thoughts? I would love to hear them!
